Jurassic world game
This became the third consecutive World Series Game 1 to go to extra innings, and, thanks to Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s single and two stolen bases, the Yankees had runners on the corners with one out in the 10th https://gcmvc.info/casino-review/las-atlantis/. When Anthony Volpe grounded to short, Edman made a nice diving stop on the ball but had trouble with the transfer and couldn’t complete a potential double play. Chisholm motored home.
Gerrit Cole gave up a leadoff double to Tommy Edman, and Shohei Ohtani moved Edman to third on a chopper that saw Anthony Volpe make another strong play at short. That put a runner at third with one out for Mookie Betts, and while Betts hit the ball hard, he was no match for the quick reflexes of Jazz Chisholm who threw Betts out after a stab at third. Freddie Freeman then flew out, so Cole is now through six innings of one-run baseball, and he’s thrown a reasonable 80 pitches.
• Freeman’s grand slam was the third walk-off home run while trailing in World Series history. The other two are homers that fans would recognize by name alone: Joe Carter’s, in 1993 Game 6 for the Blue Jays against the Phillies, and Kirk Gibson’s, in 1988 Game 1 for the Dodgers against the A’s.
The most costly defensive mistake came in the eighth inning. Ohtani clobbered a Tommy Kahnle changeup off the wall in right-center field for a double, but the throw back to the infield got away from Gleyber Torres at second base, and Ohtani took third. Torres has to keep this ball in front of him and first baseman Anthony Rizzo also needs to back up the play once Ohtani is beyond first base.
Game 5 world series 2024
The World Series parade for the Dodgers and the offseason for everyone. Trades resume Thursday and free agency opens Monday. The next four months will be chock full of trades and free-agent signings (and hot stove rumors) that reshape the league’s competitive landscape heading into spring training. For now, the Dodgers are champs, and soon the other 29 teams will get to work trying to dethrone them.
“The banning to tonight’s game was kind of expected, but the fact my little brother and his friends can’t use our season tickets tonight has really pissed me off,” he said in a text message to NBC News. “It’s not like they can go to the next game.”
The Yankees are trying to become just the second team ever — joining the 2004 Red Sox in the ALCS — to win a postseason series after trailing 3-0. They’ve already become the first World Series team in 10 tries to fall behind 3-0 and force a Game 5 (the most recent had been the 1970 Reds).
An equally formidable offense looms on the other side, as Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts barrel the Dodgers into the World Series for the first time since 2020. Ohtani, playing in his first postseason, reached base 17 times in the NLCS, setting a new franchise record. Betts, who entered the playoffs battling October demons, has swatted four home runs.
As for the Dodgers, the four innings Landon Knack ate in a bullpen game in Game 4 loom large for Game 5. Because now, behind starter Jack Flaherty, they can call upon any of their high-leverage relief arms in this one.

Legendary radio sports commentator John Sterling surprised fans with a return to the microphone just in time to celebrate the Yankees’ Game 4 win of the World Series. NBC’s Jesse Kirsch reports for “TODAY.”
Trevino nonetheless got a hittable pitch, a middle-in fastball at 93.4 mph. Trevino, though, hit just .151 against left-handed fastballs in the regular season. He swung just under the ball and flied out 345 feet to center field. The Yankees stranded the bases loaded and finished the game 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Their ninth-inning rally made for another nailbiting finish but ended one big swing short of altering the game’s outcome.
Going into Game 3, the biggest question was Shohei Ohtani, specifically his left shoulder. He partially dislocated it on a slide in Game 2 and favored it throughout Game 3 — Ohtani held his jersey while running the bases as a makeshift sling — but did play, and drew a four-pitch walk to lead off the game. There’s no reason to think the presumptive NL MVP will miss Game 4 on Tuesday.
Yankees star Aaron Judge — a leader for AL MVP who has struggled this postseason — even got in on the action, hitting an RBI single for the team’s last run, the first run he’s driven in during the series.

Game 3 world series
The only baseball team ever to come back from down 3-0 in a best-of-seven series is the 2004 Boston Red Sox — against the Yankees. New York needs a miracle at this point. The way the Yankees are playing, it’s difficult to envision what that looks like. — Jeff Passan
In Game 3, Walker Buehler was the Walker Buehler we’ve come to expect in October. The man who had a 1.43 postseason ERA from 2019-20 held the Yankees to two hits and two walks in five shutout innings Monday night. He struck out five and was ahead in the count all night, throwing a first pitch strike to 12 of 18 batters. Buehler carved the Yankees up with cutters, curveballs, and even some straight gas four-seam fastballs, a pitch that gave him problems during the regular season.
The Yankees bullpen has been worked hard so far this series, with seven relievers having worked at least two of the three games so far — Clay Holmes and Jake Cousins have thrown in all three. If Gil is unable to give the Yankees length, an already exposed bullpen will be burdened. Perhaps Marcus Stroman will be called upon for the first time this postseason.
The Yankees rotation hasn’t been nearly as good. Game 3 starter Clarke Schmidt was in trouble early and out of the game quickly. He opened with a four-pitch walk to leadoff hitter Ohtani — who was in the Dodgers’ lineup despite dislocating his shoulder in Game 2 — and two batters later, Freeman homered on a two-strike pitch to give the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead. Schmidt walked the first batter of the third inning, too, and Mookie Betts drove in that run. Schmidt was pulled after two more walks loaded the bases in the third, making this the first time all year that he failed to get through at least four innings. Yankees Game 2 starter Carlos Rodón also failed to get through four.
At this point, only a historic rally by the Yankees would prevent a Dodgers championship. The Boston Red Sox remain the only MLB team to rally from a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series, when they stunned the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS. No team has come back from 3-0 in the World Series.
